“I have been dancing all my life and dreamed of becoming a professional dancer. I believed improving my technical skills alone would prepare me to navigate the dance world with confidence—but I realized it wasn’t enough.”

Kira Rai Daniel’s path into Arts Administration was born from a pivotal moment of self-discovery. Upon completing her BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University in 2023, she was offered an apprenticeship contract with her dream company — a milestone many dancers only dream of reaching. Yet rather than accepting, Kira paused. She knew she had more to offer than what the stage alone could hold, and she made the courageous decision to pursue a larger vision for her life as an artist.

She applied — and was accepted — to Columbia University’s Master of Arts in Arts Administration program in New York City. Those two years expanded her world in ways she had never imagined. She gained her first arts administration experience at the American Ballet Theatre, working in their Education Department. She then moved into grant writing and general management for project-based company kNoname Artist, sharpening the practical skills to match her growing ambition.

Upon graduating, Kira received a full-time offer to join The Misty Copeland Foundation, where she continues to work today — contributing to an organization whose mission mirrors her own deeply held belief in the transformative power of the arts.

Beyond her role at the Foundation, Kira is actively building spaces where artists can be seen, heard, and supported. She serves as Co-Host of the i.B.Artin Podcast, Co-Founder of Beyond Art, and Founder and Executive Director of her nonprofit organization, Rai Arts — each platform a reflection of her commitment to elevating the next generation of creative voices.
